Sheikh Abdul Raouf Khalil Museum is one of the most important tourism destinations in Jeddah and tourism in Saudi Arabia in general. Because of the great archaeological, cultural importance of this museum, it is visited by millions of visitors annually. From the outside, the museum has a distinctive design following the Islamic style, and ornate wooden installations with the use of many Arab architectural elements.
In addition to the “Rawashin” formations and their elements, windows, accessories and doors of various shapes and sizes. The museum was opened by Abdul Raouf Khalil Jeddah in 1986 AD. On an area of 5,000 square meters,one of the largest museum galleries in the Kingdom. The Abdul Raouf Khalil Museum in Jeddah consists of main buildings, each section of which is distinguished by its ancient history, namely the mosque, the castle facade, and the Saudi Arabian Heritage House. the Saudi Heritage House contains a complete explanation of the ancient Saudi heritage and the stages that Saudi society and culture have gone through. In 2002, part of the museum was exposed to a fire, but it was renovated and restored, and AMSY’s role was to restore and equip everything related to the museum’s “Janobi” southern Saudi heritage. AMSY began with the restoration of the Southern Saudi Heritage Pavilion using the traditional methods and techniques and Southern “Qat” Patterns. And provided the museum with pieces that reflect the southern culture, such as: tools, fashion, and handicrafts.
