AMSY revitalized Al-Qassar Village on Farasan Island, a 3,000-year-old historical site. Our work included restoring structures, creating shaded walkways, a service center, and heritage-style entrances, preserving its rich history while enhancing the visitor experience.

Design and Build, Operate and Activate
Al Qassar Village, Farasan Island
The historic village of Al-Qassar is one of the most important tourist attractions in the Jazan Governorate. It is located in the Al-Qassar area on the island of Farasan. Its history dates back to nearly 3000 years, according to the archaeological writings and inscriptions that were found in the village. Several ancient civilizations such as the Himyarite civilization And the Roman civilization, with more than 400 houses built using local stones. The village of Al-Qassar is also fertile with antiquities dating back to the Roman era, as it contains an old church with some ancient drawings and writings, some dating back to the Himyarite era, in addition to the archaeological fortress that dates back to the late Islamic period. The General Authority for Tourism and National Heritage has implemented a project to prepare the village. AMSY’s role was in executing pedestrian walkways, applying shaded areas, establishing a service center, restoring the walls overlooking the corridors, restoring the mosque, and a number of old houses built of stones and palm leaves. For visitors, an entrance to the village was created with a heritage character, AMSY’s Illuminated Heritage Wood Pillars were throughout the site. This project comes within the framework of preparing tourist sites to be ready for visitors, services and tourism events.
